Rates

The upon agreed session dates are binding for both parties. Appointments can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance. In case of late cancellation, I will charge you a cancellation fee, unless I can assign the appointment to someone else at short notice.

Basic insurance

I am licensed to bill basic health insurance for psychotherapy sessions. The prerequisite is the existence of a corresponding order by a primary care physician or specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy.

Billing via primary care is regulated by a rate of CHF 2.58 per minute. Provided psychotherapy as well as related activities such as preparation and follow-up, questionnaire rating, report writing, etc. are charged.

Complementary insurance and international insurance

In case of additional insurances, the cost share varies considerably depending on the insurance. It is best to check with your health insurance company in advance.

Since July 1st, 2022, only a few complementary insurances contribute to the costs of psychological therapy because it can now be billed via the basic insurance. Therefore, please directly ask your complementary insurance to know if and which costs it will cover.

If you have an international insurance, please directly ask your insurance company about the cost coverage and the requirements for it, as these can vary greatly from one insurance company to another. Depending on the contract, it may include a deductible and/or cap.

Self-payer

It is also possible to pay the costs of psychotherapy or counseling yourself, and self-payers remain welcome. In such cases, I charge my own rates.

Reimbursement

Clients with complementary insurance or international insurance are kindly asked to contact directly their insurance to find out which costs are covered and under which conditions.

Since July 1st, 2022, the costs for psychological psychotherapy are reimbursed by the basic health insurance on the same basis as medical psychotherapy. The prerequisite is the existence of a medical prescription. You can find the form here (in French).

Dinstinguishing between psychogologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists

There are two types of psychotherapists: medical and psychological psychotherapists. They differ in their basic studies: a psychological psychotherapist has studied psychology and then trained in psychotherapy.

Psychological psychotherapists cannot issue sick notes or prescribe medication. Only medical psychotherapists (psychiatrists) can do this, as they have completed a classical medical degree with subsequent specialization in psychiatry/psychotherapy.
